Casino legislation is set to go to Parliament shortly–it is anticipated that Jamaica will see casinos in no less than a year and a half to two years.

Other news:

  • Cruise arrivals have jumped by 13.6 percent this year to date.
  • Sandals is in the process of heavily renovating its resorts.  Beaches Negril is in the process of renovating 54 rooms which will come online in October, with another 54 slated to come online in December.   Sandals Grande Ocho Rios has invested $40 million into its first phase of renovation.  Every room is going through revitalization. In addition, the property has added seven new or completely redone restaurants, bringing the total number of dining options to 15.
  • At the new port of Falmouth is Jamaica’s newest tourist attraction, Captain Hook Jamaica.  The attraction is a pirate show and dinner cruise that sails for three hours around the bay. Tickets sell for $95, which includes the show, dinner and unlimited beverages.
